Beyond the Mats.

Movement. Stillness. Nature. Connection.

I'm Renata — a BJJ black-belt, surfer and travelling teacher. Beyond the Mats is my home for retreats and workshops around the world, dropping into gyms and coastlines to train hard, move well, and fall back in love with the ocean.

About

Reconnect with your body, your breath, and yourself.

Beyond the Mats is a retreat concept blending movement, stillness, nature, and human connection into carefully curated experiences around the world.

Each retreat is designed to slow you down, challenge you gently, and leave you feeling clearer, stronger, and deeply grounded.

Come as you are — solo or with friends. No pressure. No expectations. Just time to move, feel good, and return to yourself.

And the wild

Where the jungle begins.

Between training sessions and surf checks, you'll usually find me barefoot on a forest path. The jungle is where everything slows down — humid air, distant birds, the green that swallows you whole. It teaches a quieter strength.

"The mat and the wave both ask the same question: can you stay soft when it gets hard?"

— Renata

Live it with me

Come live the same days I live.

Beyond the Mats isn't a brand — it's the rhythm of my weeks. Salt on the skin before breakfast, jiu jitsu by mid-morning, jungle walks at golden hour, slow dinners with new friends. The retreats are an open door into that rhythm.

  • Sunrise surf checks and long paddles
  • Daily BJJ, mobility and breath
  • Whole foods, hammocks, no rush
  • A small crew that becomes a family
